Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) May 5, 2009

Raleigh Comprehensive and Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Robert L. Williamson III and Associates, announced recently that the practice has earned its certification in oral sedation dentistry. With the Practices fully accredited status, it is now certified to provide moderate oral conscious sedation at the 119 North Boylan Avenue office in Raleigh, North Carolina.

For the protection of the public, the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners now strictly oversees dental treatments requiring moderate conscious sedation. Because the certification is so difficult to attain, very few practices have secured the accreditation necessary to offer sedation dentistry in Raleigh.

"I am very pleased to be accredited as a sedation dentistry provider in Raleigh, NC. I would like to express how proud I am of my staff at Raleigh Comprehensive and Cosmetic Dentistry applying their expertise and efforts to make the accreditation process a smooth and overwhelmingly positive success," says Dr. Williamson of Raleigh Comprehensive and Cosmetic Dentistry.

In fact, Dr. Williamson and his staff were given numerous accolades by the site visit committee during the final phase of certifying full accreditation. Specific policies and regulations adopted by the North Carolina State Dental Board are helping to ensure dentists administering this level of sedation are fully trained and qualified in providing this type of treatment.

Sedation dentistry can be administered for a wide variety of dental procedures, from a standard cleaning to in-office treatments such as fillings, implants, crowns, root canals and veneers. Sedation dentistry allows patients to become less anxious about treatments and under sedation, the time passes very quickly. Additionally, with sedation dentistry, certified dentists are able to perform more procedures in one appointment which is often difficult for patients who do not elect to receive this type of treatment.

For more than a decade, Dr. Williamson has been providing professional dental services to patients in Raleigh, NC and the surrounding region. Along with sedation dentistry, Dr. Williamson and the Associates of Raleigh Comprehensive and Cosmetic Dentistry offer a wide range of comprehensive dental treatments, as well as cosmetic and implant dentistry services. The practices well-rounded scope of dental procedures and exceptional patient care have helped the practice to become one of the region's premier dental health care providers.

To ensure they are receiving the safest dental treatment possible, it is important for patients to seek out practices that have been accredited to provide oral sedation dentistry. "I am very pleased to be able to provide this extremely valuable and needed service to the citizens of Raleigh and the State of North Carolina," concludes Dr. Williamson.

About Raleigh Comprehensive and Cosmetic Dentistry:

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) February 25, 2009

For nearly 10,000 specially trained dentists and their staffs, this year's switch to daylight savings time will mean more than resetting their clocks and checking their smoke alarms.

These dentists will use the occasion to participate in the first annual Sedation Dentistry Safety Week, March 9-13, five days dedicated to ensuring patients that sedation dentistry, an increasingly popular method of receiving vital dental care, is not only pain-free and anxiety-free, it is also extraordinarily safe.

"Even beyond patient comfort, patient safety has always been Job #1," notes Dr. Michael Silverman, national chairman of Sedation Dentistry Safety Week and one of the world's leading sedation dentistry educators.

Dentists trained by Dr. Silverman and his colleagues at DOCS Education, which he co-founded in 1999, have safely treated more than 1.25 million adult dental patients by carefully adhering to or exceeding standards recommended by the American Dental Association and set by individual state dental boards.

"While sedation dentistry has become the mainstream alternative for fearful and anxious patients, Sedation Dentistry Safety Week is designed to reinforce the dental profession's commitment to being constantly vigilant on behalf of patient safety," Dr. Silverman notes.

Activities during Sedation Dentistry Safety Week will include a review of key steps that all sedation dentists and their staffs must take with each and every sedation patient. Core safety equipment and supplies will also be checked. Patients, themselves, will be reminded of what they can do to assist their dental office's team, including providing dentists with complete and accurate medical histories ahead of any procedures.

These are the specific themes assigned to each day of Sedation Dentistry Safety Week:

Monday, March 9th - The Sedation Dentistry Safety Checklist: A Review of Protocols, Equipment and Supplies

Tuesday, March 10th - Team Work: The Role of Dental Assistants and Staff in Assuring Safety

Wednesday, March 11th - The 2009 Safe Sedation Dentists of the Year: Recognizing Excellence in Patient Safety and Comfort

Thursday, March 12th - A Consumer's Guide to Safe, Anxiety-Free Sedation Dentistry: What Patients Need to Know To Optimize Their Experience

Friday, March 13th - Talk to a Sedation Dentist Day: Veteran Sedation Dentists Will Be "On Call" to Answer Questions from Other Dental Professionals and Consumers.

All dentists who offer oral conscious sedation services to their patients are encouraged to participate in Sedation Dentistry Safety Week, regardless of where they received their training, says DOCS' Dr. Silverman.

Dentists who would like more information on sedation dentistry safety or training are encouraged to phone: 877-325-3627. Consumers with questions about fear-free, anxiety-free sedation dentistry can call (888) 858-7972.

Fear of going to the dentist is a very common phobia.

The level of fear can vary but some people find it unnerving to visit the dentist for basic checkups or cleanings. Sedation dentistry can help people overcome their fears and maintain their dental health.

Sedation dentistry can be given in the form of a pill with Oral Sedation or with IV sedation.

The pill form is the more popular choice. A prescription sleeping pill is given to the patient to take before coming into the office so that the patient will be sedated by the time the procedure begins.

The IV form of sedation dentistry is given to the patient intravenously. The patients state of fear can be closely monitored and the dosage changed accordingly. It is also good because it can go on as long as the procedure needs.

Contact Dr. Ban Barbat’s Utica MI Cosmetic Dentist Office today to learn more about your sedation options.

Our patients who have opted to combine One-Pill Sedation with their dental treatment have been tremendously pleased with the results.

In their own words ...“I remember walking in and sitting down in the chair, and the next thing I knew my treatment was finished. I felt like I had just had a refreshing nap!”

“I really dreaded having to keep my mouth open for this long procedure, even though Dr. Barbat has never hurt me. It’s amazing how one pill totally blocked out my awareness of the procedure and any memory of it.”

“I feel spoiled now. I’d like to have all my dentistry done with oral sedation.”

For many adults, a visit to the dentist is a frightful event, even though dentistry now features many comfort options. Yet, a growing number of no-anxiety level patients are askingfor One-Pill Sedation to accompany treatment. Now, using a small pill, patients can have dental care completed while they are totally relaxed and absolutely comfortable. Oral sedation has been highly praised for its excellent safety record, quick onset and recovery. Patients complete their dental care totally relaxed and comfortable. While they are safely sedated, we provide the care they need, often concluding treatment in two visits. Unlike intravenous sedation, the patient has no needles to dread and avoids a long recovery period.
Dr. Barbat is a member of the Dental Organiation for Conscious Sedation, or D.O.C.S. The purpose of D.O.C.S. is to provide education for dentists to care for the large population of people who avoid the dentist and to improve their lives with better dental health.

Dr. Barbat states, “I have always been sensitive to our patients with high fear and apprehension.

I can now offer all patients an even more comfortable experience at my Shelby Township Sedation Dentistry Office. For lengthy procedures, One-Pill Sedation adds to one’s comfort and leaves them feeling refreshed afterwards. Oral Sedation enables me to bridge the gap between technology and comfort.”

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) March 9, 2009

With the goal of making the increasing popular use of sedation dentistry as safe as humanly possible, dentists throughout the nation kicked off the first annual Sedation Dentistry Safety Week with a "must do" checklist for all sedation dentistry providers.

"The 7-Step Sedation Dentistry Safety Checklist: A Review of Protocols, Equipment and Supplies" is prepared by DOCS Education, the nation's leading educator of sedation dentists and host of the 2009 Sedation Dentistry Safety Week, March 9-13.

"Regardless of where sedation dentists received their training, we are encouraging everyone who provides their patients with this comfortable, anxiety-free method to use this special week to freshen and review their safety training," says Dr. Michael Silverman, national chairman of Sedation Dentistry Safety Week (SDSW).

SDSW will be held each March to coincide with the switch to daylight savings time.

Sedation dentistry has become an immensely popular form of treatment for adults who were previously squeamish about visiting their dentists for general and even specialized dental procedures. The key is that specially trained dentists evaluate and match each patient with a unique sedation protocol.

The individualized attention, paired with extra safety training, assures patients they will be completely relaxed and comfortable - and in many instances, remember little, if any, of the sights, smells or sounds of their dental visit.

More importantly, DOCS Education emphasizes patient safety as the top priority in all of its training. DOCS Education dentists alone have safely treated more than 1.25 million adult dental patients by carefully adhering to or exceeding guidelines of the American Dental Association and/or regulations set by individual state dental boards.

The 7-Step Sedation Dentistry Safety Checklist is intended as a reminder for dentists and their team members of key steps they can take this week to assure all their patients have a safe, comfortable, effective and pain-free office visit throughout the year. The checklist is designed strictly for those dentists and oral health professionals who have also received specialized training in sedation safety.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) March 11, 2010

“So much talent, such an awful smile.”

It’s a thought that has crossed the mind of many fans of television’s most popular reality shows. Be they idols, chefs, survivors, apprentices, housewives or dancers, these days the airwaves are filled with talented, charismatic amateurs whose moments in the spotlight are clouded by missing or crooked teeth, gaps and a hesitance to express their joy with a radiant smile.

Would-be stars are not alone.

Tens of millions of Americans literally bite their lips to conceal the warmth and exuberance they feel within because they are embarrassed by their smiles – a cover up that modern dental techniques make completely unnecessary.

As part of next week’s 2nd Annual Sedation Dentistry Safety Week, March 15th-19th, specially trained dentists throughout the country will be highlighting the availability of pain-free, anxiety free cosmetic dentistry using state-of-the-art techniques that put even the most fearful dental patients at perfect ease.

For all those whose smiles limit their “star appeal,” Sedation Dentistry Safety Week has designated Wednesday, March 17th, the first annual “Reality Bites” makeover day. Effective today, fans can nominate their favorite reality television show contestants for a complete, pain-free, anxiety-free smile makeover.

Fans who would like to encourage their favorite reality show contestants to explore a sedation dentistry smile makeover can nominate their favorites by emailing the names of the contestants and which shows (and year) they appear on to smiles(at)realitybites(dot)org.

Moreover, reality show contestants – both past and present – are invited to nominate themselves for a free, complete, anxiety-free makeover by sending an email with details of their show appearances and full contact information to stars(at)realitybites(dot)org.

Judging for the 2010 Sedation Dentistry Safety Week “Reality Bites” makeover day will be based upon fan and star nominations, as well as a panel of satisfied celebrities and their favorite sedation dentists. Honorary celebrity chairman of the 2010 sedation safety week is three-time Olympian Gary Hall Jr., winner of 10 Olympic swimming medals for the United States and himself a satisfied, beaming sedation dentistry patient.

Each year, Sedation Dentistry Safety Week coincides with the switch to daylight savings time. For five consecutive days, more than 10,000 specially trained dentists and their staffs dedicate each day to a specific theme aimed at raising awareness of safe sedation dentistry and reinforcing their full commitment to their patients’ well-being, satisfaction, comfort and most importantly, safety.

The 2010 national chairman of this annual event is Dr. Michael Silverman, one of the world’s leading sedation dentistry educators and a co-founder of DOCS Education, official host of Sedation Dentistry Safety Week. Since its founding 10 years ago, DOCS Education members have provided more than 1.5 million adult dental patients safe treatments that adhere to or exceed standards recommended by the American Dental Association and approved by individual state dental boards.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) March 9, 2009

The switch to daylight savings time is the signal for nearly 10,000 specially trained dentists and their staffs to review all of their equipment, supplies and procedures to maximize patient safety.

The first annual Sedation Dentistry Safety Week, March 9-13, aims to reinforce the mission of sedation dentists - to provide effective dental care that is not only comfortable and anxiety-free, but also extraordinarily safe.

Sedation dentistry has become an immensely popular form of treatment for adults who were previously squeamish about visiting their dentists for standard and even specialized dental procedures. The key is that specially trained dentists evaluate and match each patient with a unique sedation protocol.

The individualized attention, paired with extra safety training, assures patients they will be completely relaxed and comfortable - and in many instances, remember little, if any, of the sights, smells or sounds of their dental visit.

Even more importantly, organizations such as DOCS Education, which is hosting the 2009 Sedation Dentistry Safety Week, makes patient safety the top priority in all of its training. DOCS Education dentists alone have safely treated more than 1.25 million adult dental patients by carefully adhering to or exceeding standard recommendations by the American Dental Association and set by individual state dental boards.

"Sedation Dentistry Safety Week is a reminder to all the dentists we've trained - as well as those who've received their sedation training elsewhere, that dentists and their teams must constantly freshen and review their safety training," says Dr. Michael Silverman, national chairman of Sedation Dentistry Safety Week and one of the world's leading sedation dentistry educators.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) October 2, 2008

Washington Center for Cosmetic Dentistry announces its strategic partnership with Horizon Anesthesia, which will allow them to offer their Washington, DC cosmetic dentistry patients full sedation dentistry without the safety risks that are sometimes associated with the administration of anesthesia. Through this partnership, a board-certified anesthesiologist from Horizon Anesthesia would be present in Washington Center for Cosmetic Dentistry's cutting edge Washington, DC dentist office for all patients that opt for deep sedation dentistry.

The Washington Center for Cosmetic Dentistry has long been offering semi-sedative options to their Washington, DC cosmetic dentistry patients, but did not offer full sedation because of the risks that are sometimes associated with the administration of anesthesia. By partnering with Horizon Anesthesia and having a board-certified anesthesiologist "on staff" for deep sedation dentistry patients, each cosmetic sedation dentist at Washington Center for Cosmetic Dentistry can offer deep sedation while they perform their cosmetic dental procedures without the risks associated with inexperienced administration of anesthesia. This service will also benefit general Washington, DC dental patients who are looking for safe sedation dentistry in the Washington, DC area.

"This strategic alliance with Horizon will allow us to practice sedation dentistry much more safely than other offices that choose to do it themselves after simply taking a course for a few weeks," said Michael Pollowitz, DDS at Washington Center for Cosmetic Dentistry. "We will have a board certified anesthesiologist in our office, to ensure that any patient considering sedation dentistry can be extra comfortable knowing they do not need to worry about their safety."

Washington Center for Cosmetic Dentistry provides the most cutting edge cosmetic dental procedures available, with an emphasis on the comfort and relaxation of their patients. Their cosmetic dentist office features luxury, spa-like amenities with the goal of making every cosmetic dentistry patient as comfortable as possible. The cosmetic dentists at Washington Center for Cosmetic Dentistry specialize in dental restoration procedures such as porcelain dental veneers, cutting-edge teeth whitening with Brite Smile, dental implant restoration, and more.

For more information on Washington Center for Cosmetic Dentistry's deep sedation dentistry or any of their Washington, DC cosmetic dental services, call 202-363-2500 or visit http://www.amazingdentistry.com.
